Το ταξίδι στο οποίο μας παρασύρει ο Marc Buronfosse είναι συγκρίσιμο με την Οδύσσεια του Ομήρου ως προς τα φαντασιακά του στοιχεία. Είναι ένα ακίνητο ταξίδι: ταξιδεύουμε μέσα από τα ακίνητα ρεύματα του Αιγαίου. Τα πιο βαθιά του νερά αναδύονται στην επιφάνεια της Νάουσας, στο νησί της Πάρου, όπου ηχογραφήθηκε και το άλμπουμ.
Αφήνοντας το κοντραμπάσο στην άκρη, ο Marc επέλεξε τις καμπύλες μιας Fender VI, χωρίς να χάσει ίχνος από τη συναισθησιακή του προσέγγιση. Είτε πρόκειται για κιθάρα είτε για μπάσο, το όργανο έχει τη μοναδική δύναμη να αποτυπώνει τοπίο—μια εικόνα ανάμεσα στον ουρανό και τη γη, τη γη και τη θάλασσα, το φως και το σκοτάδι, ανάμεσα στην Ευρώπη και την Ασία…
Το όργανο μπορεί ακόμη και να αποδώσει το ακριβές σημείο συνάντησης μεταξύ αυτών των διαφορετικών διαστάσεων, προσφέροντας ηλεκτρονικούς ήχους που αφηγούνται την ιστορία μιας ήρεμης αλλά αναπόφευκτης θάλασσας. Το αλμυρό νερό κυλά σε υγρή μορφή πάνω στα τύμπανα του Παναγιώτη Κωστόπουλου, και μετατρέπεται σε αέριο, θερμαινόμενο από την τρομπέτα του Ανδρέα Πολυζωγόπουλου.
Αυτή η θάλασσα θυμίζει το Panthalassa του Bill Laswell, μια αναφορά στο έργο του Miles Davis. Η αφετηρίαείναι ίδια, αλλά ο προορισμός διαφορετικός. Με την ευαίσθητη πινελιά του Hugo Corbin στην ηλεκτρική κιθάρα, το ÆGN χαρτογραφεί με την ακρίβεια χαρτογράφου κάθε λεπτομέρεια του Ελληνικού Αρχιπελάγους.
Κι αν η Πάρος συνεχίζει να φυλά τα μυστικά της, το άλμπουμ αυτό αποτυπώνει την υπνωτιστική, εμμονική έκσταση ενός οικείου τόπου, του οποίου σχεδόν κάθε γωνιά είναι γνωστή απ’ έξω κι ανακατωτά. Γι’ αυτό το ÆGN επιθυμεί να αγκαλιάσει όλους μας. Μπορεί να καθρεφτιστεί μέσα στον καθένα, είτε καθισμένο δίπλα στον Marc, κοιτώντας τη θάλασσα, είτε σε ένα εντελώς διαφορετικό μέρος...
Αλλά προς το παρόν, ας μείνουμε στην Πάρο. Ο καιρός είναι υπέροχος!

The Festival at the Park presents on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at 21:30, at the Theater of the Park Aï-Giannis Detis, the concert “ “ÆGN” by renowned French double bassist Marc Buronfosse.
The journey, in which Marc Buronfosse embarks us, is comparable to Homer’s Odyssey in its imaginary elements. This is a still voyage: we travel through the motionless currents of the Aegean sea. Its inmost depths arise at the surface of Naoussa, on the island of Paros where the album was recorded.
Leaving the double bass aside he favored the curves of a Fender VI, without loosing an ounce of sensuality. Either it is a guitar or a bass, an instrument has the special power to depict a particular landscape, describing a scenery between the sky and the ground, the ground and the sea, the light and the dark, between Europe and Asia... The instrument can even transcribe the exact meeting point between these different dimensions by offering electronic sounds, which tell the story of a calm but inescapable sea.
The salty water goes from a liquid state which roles down the drum set of Panagiotis Kostopoulos to a gaseous one warming up to the sound of Andreas Polyzogopoulos’s trumpet. This sea recalls Bill Laswell’s Panthalassic Ocean, a reminder to Miles Davis’s work. The departure is the same but we land in different places. With Hugo Corbin’s touch on the electric guitar, ÆGN draws with the precision of a cartographer every detail of the Greek Archipelago.
Even if Paros still has its secrets, this album traces the hypnotic, obsessional trance of a familiar place, in which nearly all the nooks and corners are known by heart. This is why ÆGN wishes to embrace all of us. It can reflect in each and every one of us, either sitting down next to Marc, watching the sea or being in a completely different place...
But for the moment, let’s stay in Paros. The weather is so fine!
